Friday Intensive Classes

Our Friday sessions will provide an in-depth look at your choice of topics with an entire day of learning. These classes will go beyond the basics and are three hour intense experiences.

Fri 10:00 am - 1:00 pm:

M/s and D/s Conversations - Catherine Gross and nic
Join us for an intimate, engaged conversation on M/s and D/s relationships. Come play with the concepts and notions which move beyond the first few years of settling into the relationship. Let’s engage each other sharing our collective wisdom. Lady Catherine and slave nic are bringing a framework of a multitude of subjects—do not expect the same protocol, structure and authority conversation. This conversation is for those who have been, or currently are, in a Master/slave or Dominant/submissive relationship. Suggested experience is an on-going dynamic within one sustained relationship for at least three years.

Bondage for Intention and Connection - Lee Harrington
Bondage is not just about how to tie a good knot- it is about the scenes we set and the connection you build with your partner. As we learn techniques, we will also look at communicating desires, connecting with our lover and looking at WHY we want to do bondage in the first place. Please bring at least 3 25+ft pieces of rope for hands on exploration, though limited supplies will be available to borrow. Individuals coming as triads are more than welcome, but singles are asked to be ready to be partnered with others in the class.

BDSM 101 - Lolita Wolf
We're going to have fun exploring and learning how to do BDSM safely. From figuring out what you want to where to find it, from negotiating to how-to's, and what to say and how to act. This will be a safe space for answers and to ask your questions, too.

In Leather Pride - Cleo Dubois
Before Fetlife, the Exiles, the Folsom Street Fair what was it like? Maybe you've heard of Samois,  Outcasts, the Catacombs or the first Leather Contingent at the March on Washington and you wonder! Connect with your history at "In Leather Pride" presentation, as witnessed and experienced by Cleo Dubois. Our humanity will come alive before your eyes in this visual feast of over 100 mages on the screen. And then, ask Cleo anything.

Making Leather Gear - Daddy Wendell
Hands-on demonstration covering the techniques, equipment and patterns needed to make floggers, restraints, wrist/bicep bands, bondage belts, strap-on harnesses, suspenders, arm binders and hoods, plus where to buy tools, hardware and leather. Instruction manual and do-it-yourself kits for bondage cuffs, suspenders, chest harnesses and floggers available for an additional fee.

Rough Play - tomo
During this hands on intensive, tomo will present martial arts techniques modified to create safe yet rough play. Takedowns, choking, subdue and restraint techniques, punching, cuffing, and pressure points will be taught to control the willing or unwilling bottom.  Everyone will have the opportunity to practice, yet physical participation is not required. Come alone or with a partner. Big Top, small body? Come and learn how size does not matter.

Service With Power - tomo
Power is often defined by the ability or capacity to perform an act effectively. A powerful person may have traits such as being influential, independent, straightforward, and assertive. In this class, we will examine how power can be a useful tool for a person in service to have. We will look at power, examine what it is, and how we can grow it within ourselves. Together, we will investigate service with power from the perspective of the Top as well as the bottom. We will discuss the misconception that one has to be weak to be a servant and that one with a strong will cannot surrender. Tops - consider how making use of a powerful servant might be to your benefit. Bottoms - discover how to serve and submit while embracing and using the power that is within you. Top or bottom, powerful or not - join us as we look at the many sides of this issue.

Bootblacking 101 - Q
Are you looking to expand your service skill set? Have you seen a bootblack at work and wondered if you could do it? Ever look at someone in their leathers and know that properly taking care of their leathers would be even more of a privilege than touching their bare skin? Brought those stunning new boots that you had to save so long for and want to know how to make them last a lifetime? Did reading any of those questions make you hot? Have absolutely no idea what bootblacking is? Then this workshop is for you! This workshop will introduce you to the basics of boot and leather care. We’ll discuss what bootblacking is and basic technique. We’ll also discuss care of leather items (i.e. vest, floggers), as well as how to care for latex, patent leather and vinyl. From strictly service to slightly sensual, bootblacking has got it all. Come see what it can add to your life.

Brutal Affection - Felice Shays
Punching, Kicking, Slapping and Sex. It ain't about the brawn - it's about the sex. Regardless of your size, gender, or physical ability, this highly interactive workshop uses scads of demonstrations to teach you fierce, passionate methods of slam, slap and thud. Learn to use your brain and a multitude of body parts to bring you and your partners to new found levels of physical, sensual, sexual intensity and intimacy. With humor,affection, straight talk, and smarts, Felice Shays will discuss and demonstrate technique, safety, partnered positions, toys, head space, anatomy, and helpful items. Also, as time allows, Felice will work with individuals, dyads and other combinations of partners to resolve their dilemmas of inequity of size, status, attitude or muscle. You're Going to Need an Enema for That! Many Ways of Enema Play - Eve Minax
For some of us, enemas are a major component of our play and even our lives, but many of us struggle to creatively incorporate enemas into a greater variety of scenes. The Medical Enema is an obvious favorite, and "Dr" Eve loves administering them, but how does one cohesively integrate an enema with other types of scenes? Each of us processes pain and intense sensation in different ways. Some of us scream, some go silent, laugh with glee, squirm, or focus on the connection we have with our partners. Let’s discuss how different individuals process pain and how to increase your own effectiveness in transmuting pain into pleasure, suffering, or erotic connection.

The Perverted Ethical Slut - Dossie Easton
As SM sluts, we may play many different roles with many different people. In this workshop we will discuss the skills that successful sluts have used to build a community of lovers where everyone gets their needs met and no one gets done wrong.

Advanced Caning - Sharrin
Want to know how a cane can feel like a soft kiss and a singletail all in one scene? You know the basics of caning, come discover some advanced techniques. From layered bruising to caning to blood, we'll discuss and demo the love/hate relationship with canes.

Polyamory is a much misunderstood lifestyle. Join Allena for an open and honest discussion about Polyamory in all its forms. Learn Allena's 20 "Relationship Principles" (great for anyone, poly or mono). Find out tips on making it easier to live within your "polycule". Come prepared to be part of this dialogue and share your poly experiences.

A Re-Introduction To The Only-Mostly-Dead Art of Chivalry (Now! With 200% More Feminism!) - S. Bear Bergman
Everyone's heard the stories: men who get kneed in the balls for holding open a door, youngsters who sprawl on bus seats while elders stand, the myth of the handkerchief-carrying gentleman, and all the rest. What, exactly, do girls women people want in the world of chivalry? How can a modern gentleperson be courteous without being sexist or a suckup? Come learn a new bondage, restraint or fiber decoration skill… or twists on an old classic! Rope artist Lee Harrington will take your questions, or show you how to take tricks from his rope bag and make them your own.

Caning: In the Line of Fire - Cleo Dubois
Like snowflakes, no two cane strokes are identical, even when you are accurate. Caning is a dance and timing is everything.   From fiery sting to deep thud, canes can be used for more than punishment games. Get scene ideas, tips and techniques and take your play to the next level.

FISTING: There is nothing like a fist! - Evan
Have you always wanted to try as a top? bottom? both? Have you tried it before and still have some questions? This is your opportunity to be mentored in a small, safe setting. Drop by and learn the in’s and out’s of fisting.

Flogging - Wendell
This will be an opportunity to try out a variety of floggers to determine what works for you - you will have an opportunity to try out a variations in handles (weight, length and diameter) and falls (length, weight, width.) You can ask questions about flogger construction and potentially test out the floggers that you learned to make in Friday's "Making Leather Gear" class.

Single Tails – The Epitome of SM - Lolita Wolf
This sexy activity can range from delicate to cruel. Lolita will speak about using a whip for play, different types of whips, the physics of whip motion, buying a whip and the cleaning and caring of your whip. A demo will cover the dynamics of a whip scene from negotiation through aftercare.

A Little Bit of Elbow Grease, A Lot of Charisma - KD
Bootblacking isn't all about bringing up a quality shine--it's also about connecting with the person in your chair. In this class, kd will teach about the shining basics and touch on the various ways an aspiring bootblack can really make someone feel special.

Everybody Wins Wrestling - Jessi HolmanAhart
Jessi HolmanAhart, IMsL 2005 was born an exhibitionist, educator and youngest of four very physical children. After years as a highly physical lover, she was trained by Scott Caruthers in Women's Freestyle Wrestling, and brought it immediately to her intimate relationships. While admitting that size does matter, she likes to teach pins and techniques that work well for smaller people against larger opponents.   Lamalani is a life-long Seattle resident and held the title of Washington State Ms Leather 2008 before winning International Ms Leather 2009. She has been active in the leather community since 1999 when she started teaching workshops through the women-owned sex toy store Babeland. Lamalani has presented at Desire Leatherwomen's conference, the Conservatory, Michigan Womyn's Festival, Mistress Shae's Academy in Los Angeles, Portland Bad Girls and offers private classes around the Puget Sound area.   International Ms Bootblack 2009, pony, is one of two bootblacks in residence at the Leather Rose in Chicago. She was named Kentucky Bootblack in 2006 and was the runner up at the GLLA 2006 Bootblack contest. pony has a Masters of Divinity degree from an accredited theological seminary and is an ordained Minister in a mainline Christian denomination. She has taught classes in Bootblacking and/or ponyplay at Leather Retreat, Anything for Love, LRA Chicago, KUFS, KISS, and the Fort Wayne Munch. She has judged the bootblack contests at Great Lakes Leather Alliance, Mr. Leather Toronto, and Southwest Leather Conference.Pony is an associate member of the Louisville Trailblazers.   Q, often known by her easily identifiable blonde mohawk, is a two-time, award winning bootblack and presenter both within and outside of the leather community. An activist for more than 15 years, Q has consistently made strides to bridge the communities to which she belongs. Her most recent journey as a titleholder in the leather community provided her with the opportunity to continue a rich tradition of education while indulging her activist side. Newly relocated to Portland OR, thisBrooklyn Femme has presented at a plethora of events for about a decade including Black Rose, Pacific Friction, DarkOdyssey, Babeland, LSM, TES, WickedWomyn, Shebop, KinkFest, Safer SM, Tribal Fire, MOB, Come As You Are, The Exiles, Desire, Thunder In The Mountains, Kinky Kollege, and IMsL.   Dossie Easton, a long time player on the San Francisco S/M scene, is co-author of The Ethical Slut, now in its second edition, as well as The New Bottoming Book and The New Topping Book, When Someone You Love Is Kinky, and Radical Ecstasy: SM Journeys to Transcendence. She is a licensed psychotherapist working with individuals, couples and more in her private practice. An active sex radical since 1961, she was a member of the first Board of Directors of the Society of Janus in San Francisco in 1974. In the eighties under the name of Hidebound Leatherware, she had a business crafting whips and restraints. Currently she makes her home in the mountains north of San Francisco, travels around to conferences and spends her nonexistent free time at home declaiming filthy poetry to the vultures and the occasional mountain lion.

  Jessi HolmanAhart, IMsL 2005 was born an exhibitionist and educator. Her community work began in 1990 as an educator around HIV awareness and prevention with ACT-UP Baltimore, then as one of the Peer Safer Sex Slut Team (PSSST!) in San Francisco.
